Hi! My name is Alexis Gabrielson and I'm a first year at ERC, Philosophy/Critical Gender Studies major.

My long-term goal is to attend UCLA Law School and become a lobbyist. I believe one person with the right attitude and enough creativity can have a larger impact on the world than a million people with no drive or enthusiasm. This belief is what drives me to succeed in everything I do, and why I'm extremely interested in this class.

UCSD needs change. Walking around campus, I notice so much wasted space that could use that little something extra to bring it to life. Students could use architecture that facilitates interaction. I believe this extra social interaction could improve the morale of the school.

One idea that I've been tossing around In my head for the past week is some sort of outdoor seating arrangement with a built-in iPod hookup. Of course, this type of thing would need security features, but it would be a great add-on to your average cement benches. The fusion of music and architecture is an idea I want to try in this class.

The only creative activity I utilize on a daily basis is Photoshop, so I'm very excited to utilize my creative energy on something that can actually create social change.

The Colosseum: the worlds GREATEST use of social architecture in my opinion...

(love thinking of the colosseum as a social space... people coming to see people fight/kill/die...

such interaction surely does make a play for the worlds greatest) -ben

(thanks for the imput ;) but i was concerned with the social impact it had on martyrdom

and the rise of Christianity in ancient Rome.. pretty big deal? haha) - Alexis
